Mills Cove

In 2003 Christopher Developments purchased a 2 acre property adjacent to the Millstream Estuary in View Royal and developed an 8 lot subdivision. With a young daughter and a clear future in Victoria, Chris was eager to design and build a home for his own family.

Keith Baker of KB Design was a friend of Chris’, and gave him his own old drafting board. Chris used the gift to design his very first, and very own home by hand, drawing inspiration from the Architect Robert Stern. 

As a relatively new developer in Victoria, Chris was faced with a narrower budget than was ideal. It was this project that shaped his morals around being upfront with clients about budget and expectations. To this day, no matter the client, Chris always treats budget as the number one priority, and is invariably candid about expectations and delivery. 

In order to save on costs and reuse materials, Chris utilized purely salvaged timbers to create full dimensioned wood fascia boards. The high sloped roof profile made for vast vaulted ceilings that provided the perfect opportunity for a large bedroom with a loft for Chris’ young daughter. 

This project was Chris Walker’s first design pursuit, paving the way for constant improvement and excellence in the industry. The home that he created in the process provided countless learning experiences, and memories to be cherished by his family for a lifetime.

Set on a beautiful waterfront inlet in View Royal, this shingle styled home features extensive use of dark Jatoba Hardwoods, heated tile flooring, and granite facings. Vaulted ceilings give the home a very open yet warm atmosphere.
