Being referred by other designers is always a compliment. We'd like to extend our gratitude to Keith Baker of KB Design for introducing us to Steven and Juliette Cload and giving us the opportunity to build one of his exceptional designs on this west-facing oceanfront property in Deep Cove, North Saanich.
This project highlights the efforts that Chris and his team make to comply with every manner of governing regulations. Safety and security, for the occupants of the home as well as the surrounding environment are vitally important. This site required construction of an extensive seawall to prevent erosion, which meant working with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans to protect our local marine life. Because the site was technically below sea level, careful coordination was crucial for timing work around the tides.
Despite the challenges Chris and team had to navigate which included a very steep bank and an archaeological midden, the completed home addresses the property gracefully and stands as a stunning example of light-filled contemporary design.
